I am a huge sucker for all things crafty. I love craft shows where I can find the cutest home decor that nobody else will have. I think I like crafts so much because I’m not crafty at all, so I’d rather pay for the crafts rather than get really frustrated making them.
If you related with anything I just wrote, then I’m sure you’ll be interested in the upcoming three-day event (October. 13, 14, & 15) called The Craftsmen’s Fall Classic Art & Craft Festival. It’s the 30th year the festival has come to Roanoke and is partnering with our local food bank, Feeding America Southwest Virginia.
Admission is free – something I can appreciate because there is nothing I hate more than having to pay an admission fee to get into an event to shop. Instead of an admission fee, organizers ask you to bring food donations for the food bank.
Get this, organizers say, this event gives the Feeding America SWVA the second largest donation of the year. Last year, the event was able to collect 25,000 pounds of food to donate.
So who will be there? There will be hundreds of artists and craftsmen from more than 20 states.
What exactly will you be able to find there? Here is a description:
“Contemporary, traditional, functional, whimsical and decorative treatments of pottery, fine art, glass, jewelry, baskets, weaving, clothing, furniture, sculpture, photography, wood & much more, including specialty foods. THOUSANDS of unique choices for every style, taste and budget! Find amazing gifts for all ages, collections, home accessories, and personal treasures.” -Gilmore Shows
